First Page Writing Contest
If you’ve been an author for any length of time, the importance of interesting and engaging writing cannot be overstated. Our goal should always be to hook the reader from the first sentence and take them on a literary journey filled with vivid imagery, heartfelt stories and crisp writing.
With this in mind, attendees at the West Coast Christian Writers Conference have the opportunity to submit a two-page fiction OR non-fiction piece for this year’s writing contest. Please base the content of your submission on one of the two prompts:
Prompt A (Non-fiction) — Share a powerful memory or experience you’ve had.
Prompt B (Fiction) — If you had a pet (real or imagined) that could talk, write about a conversation you would have with him/her.
- Send to Mike Lynch at: email@example.com
- Deadline: February 1
- Put “WCCW Writing Contest” in the subject line of your e-mail
- Please include your name and title at the top of your submission. Submissions should be double spaced, 12 pt font, with 1 inch margins
- Each submission will be evaluated by a panel of judges
The top three finishers of both categories will be announced at an awards ceremony on Feb. 29.
Remember, you can’t win if you don’t enter.
Best of luck to everyone!
