You finally got the courage to sign up for the writers conference you’ve been hearing so much about. You’re excited and nervous. But how prepared do you feel? Whether you’re attending online or in-person, arriving ready is the key to benefitting from and enjoying a conference. Join long-time writers conference veteran Jeanette Hanscome for tips on preparing your heart, setting goals, getting ready for appointments and critiques, choosing workshops, and navigating the extra challenges of a virtual conference. As an extra bonus, she will decode the most commonly used publishing jargon.
Jeanette Hanscome has been attending writers conferences since 1995, when she arrived on the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference grounds not knowing anyone. She is the author of five books, including Suddenly Single Mom and Running with Roselle, and has written hundreds of articles, devotions, and stories for magazines and devotional books. She speaks at women’s events and writers conferences and loves serving her writing community as the WCCW Community Care Director.
